Eastern Market has been a food shoppers' paradise since 1872 and is now the only operating historic fresh food market in DC. The Market is open every day but Monday, but it is on the weekends that it's covered sidewalk comes to life with a farmers market, craft bazaar and one of the largest flea markets in the metropolitan area. If you hang around Eastern Market on the weekend you'll rub shoulders with plenty of media and political celebrities, after all the Hill is home to more members of Congress than any other area -- and few who live here miss the Market on Saturday and Sunday.
